Salsa, Joy of Man's Desiring
Well, this is a great tune but the lyrics could use a bit of spicing up.
Jesu, joy of man's desiring
Holy wisdom, love most bright
Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light
Word of God, our flesh that fashioned
With the fire of life impassioned
Striving still to truth unknown
Soaring, dying round Thy throne
So I offer up the spicey version of it. Maybe it will catch on.
Salsa, joy of man's desiring
Habanero has some bite
Drawn by thee, our soles perspiring
For incinerated diet
Burns oh God, our flesh that’s blackened
With the fire each time we're splashin'
Striving still to woof some down
Scorching, dying, down the throat.

ROFLMAO Reminds me what I watch hubby and son go through when they're chowing down on the hot stuff. Me, I wimp out since I value my esophagus and stomach.
Have you considered offering this to Taco Bell, Chi Chis, or another Mexican restaurant chain for their advertising use?
Serious suggestion. Contact Weird Al Yankovic, cause you just might have a job opportunity there. I don't have connections with him, but you two *definitely* think along the same lines!

I haven't had much time to consider it. I wrote it in the wee hours this morning when I was uploading to the photo album over a dial-up line.
I tried to keep the sounds close enough to the original so that mischievous kids could get away with singing the salsa version in church.
It would make a funny commercial, though.

Nice-lookin' blog, George. And I had a pretty good idea recently about how hot habanero could get. I will never put that in my spaghetti again.

The site looks great!
Rhiain, you put WHAT in your spaghetti??!! I'll be you could strip paint off an aircraft carrier with that sauce! ;)

I was trying to blend in with the Mexican locals, and they know the definition of "generous" when applying habanero to their meals. My taste buds didn't like their idea of "generous" and proclaimed a permanent sanction. So much for being adventurous...

"Burns oh God, our flesh that’s blackened"
... now THAT is hilarious!
Seriously though, habaneros are our friends. Work up to them and when you get to the point where you don't sweat until *after* you eat them, you'll notice that they have a wonderful fruity/tropical taste.
Keep an eye out for a pepper - Red Savina. Haven't tried one, but they're supposed to be 2x as hot. That's making me sweat...
